The Finch Tree House
The Finch Tree House is a monumental segregation device. Dill and Jem are very particular about who comes in the tree house. This metaphorically represents the stereotypes they apply to others. Dill and Jem have created a mirror image of what they imagine in a person. They choose to only associate themselves with individuals of the same nature. Scout has partial ownership of the tree house, yet constantly discovers she is struggling to be accepted inside it.
